INTRODUCTION

 

Modern Indian School is situated on the southern edge of Kathmandu City, on Chobhar-Dakshinkali Road, at a height of 4800 ft. It is located 3 km from the main Kathmandu city between the band of the Bagmati River and the picturesque pine forest. The school building is designed to harmonise with the scenic backdrop. The clean air, tranquil surroundings and serene environment make it ideal for scholarly pursuits.

The School was established by the Modern Indian School Managing Committee under the patronages of H.E Shri N.B. Menon, the then Ambassador of India to Nepal. It was inaugurated by Jawaharlal Nehru Prize winner, the late Shri Tulsi Mehar Shrestha on 1st March 1978. The basic concept for setting up of this school was to impart schooling facility to the children of Indian nationals serving in Nepal. However, because of the excellent quality of education imparted, variety of courses offered and the enviable facilities it offers, the School has made a name for itself and a sizeable number of Nepali and other childeren are also being benefited by it.
